A fire left a family displaced the night before Thanksgiving.
Fire crews were called to the 200 block of Birch Drive in Falls Township’s Levittown section for a house fire around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday. Volunteers from multiple fire companies rushed to the scene.
Falls Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said four people were in the home at the time when they heard some noises. Moments later, the smoke detectors went off and a call to 9-1-1 came in.
The fire was ruled an accident and determined to have started with the home’s heater. The flames spread through the house and into the kitchen and attic by the time firefighters arrived, Dippolito said.

Crews from the Falls Township, Fairless Hills, Levittown No. 1, Levittown No. 2 and Morrisville fire companies worked to put down the flames. They chased the fire as it stubbornly burned in the attic.
No one was injured in the blaze and a pet snake was saved by the family.
The home was left uninhabitable by flames.
