Earlier this month, community leaders and local government officials attended a 100-year celebration at Dow Chemical’s Bristol site.
Dow Chemical executives welcomed the community to the site, which mainly handles the company’s coating materials business. The facility, which sits in Bristol Borough and Bristol Township, produces ingredients used in paints found in home improvement stores around the globe.

Bristol Borough Mayor Joe Saxton, a former Dow Chemical employee, talked about the site and its place in the community.

Employees led a tour through the facility. The tour included a stop at Building 28, the oldest building at the site, and the Bristol Polymers Tote and Drum lines that were used to originally produce Plexiglass.
“Since the completion of our site’s first batch of product in 1917, thousands have worked inside the fence line, contributing to the products we manufacture, our commitment to environmental, health and safety, and our continual involvement in the local community,” said Claire Quinn, Dow Chemical’s Bristol site leader. “Transformation is in our DNA and deeply rooted in the site’s history, as well as that of Dow’s. Our manufacturing operations continue to reinvent themselves for the opportunities of the era, and the future.”
