Police were called to Conwell-Egan Catholic High School after a shotgun shell was discovered outside the building.
The incident happened Tuesday morning when an employee found what appeared to be a shotgun shell under a vehicle in the parking lot. High school administration then contacted police to investigate, Archdiocese of Philadelphia spokesman Ken Gavin told LevittownNow.com.

The school was placed on a “soft lockdown” as a safety precaution and officers searched the grounds and building, Gavin said.
“As a result of this process, the school to continue all activities as normal and the soft lockdown was lifted,” he added.
Police said they recovered a shotgun shell at the school and did not locate a weapon.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia was grateful for the police department’s swift response to the incident this morning, Gavin stated.
