A dangerous arson fire in Falls Township was under investigation as of Wednesday afternoon.
A decorative ornament hanging from the front door of an apartment in the Village of Pennbrook complex was set ablaze around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said.

The township’s chief fire investigator said a family was home when the fire started and flames could have easily cut off their escape route.
The fire damaged the door and spread to the siding above the entryway, Dippolito said.
No witnesses have come forward and the last trick-or-treaters stopped by about 30 minutes before the fire.

Within the past month, a mailbox was set on fire in the complex, Dippolito said.
Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact the fire marshal at 215-949-9000 ext. 250.
