A stubborn dryer fire caused smoke to pour out of a building on Pennsbury High School’s campus Friday night.
Firefighters were called to the high school’s pool house in Falls Township around 9:15 p.m. Shortly after, heavy smoke was seen pouring from the pool house.

The commercial dryer fire was difficult to put out because it wrapped through the building’s complicated duct work, Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said.

He stated firefighters took hose to the roof of the building to work to get water into the duct system to put down the smoky fire. The nature of the fire being in the duct work created some problems for fire crews.
A load of wash was placed in the dryer before the fire started, Dippolito said.

No injuries were reported and the bulk of the damage was limited to the duct system and dryer, the fire marshal said.
