Several Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash On Route 1

Several people were taken to the hospital following a crash on southbound Route 1 in Middletown.

The crash happened around 11:50 a.m. Tuesday at the West Lincoln Highway ramp onto Route 1, not far from the Neshaminy Creek bridge near the Bensalem border.

Firefighters from the Parkland and Trevose fire companies rushed to the scene along with police and medics from Bensalem EMS and the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad.

Three cars were involved and a trash truck. One vehicle overturned and rescuers cut off its roof to free victims, police said.

Another crash occurred due to the traffic backup that lasted about an hour.
