Bucks County Will Mark 16 Years Since September 11th Terrorist Attacks

Monday will mark the 16th anniversary since terrorists hijacked four planes over the East Coast and killed thousands of people.

The Garden of Reflection on Woodside Road in Lower Makefield is the official Pennsylvania memorial for the nearly 3,000 victims of September 11, 2001.

On Sunday evening at 7 p.m., a candlelight ceremony will be held at the Garden of Reflection.

The memorial will host a Monday morning remembrance ceremony starting at 8:30 a.m. The event will follow the chronological events of September 11th in real-time and honor the victims. Music and religious leaders will be present for the event.

At 7 p.m. Monday, the annual Remembrance in Light Candlelight Ceremony will begin. This year, the former pastor of St. Paul’s Chapel near Ground Zero in New York will speak. The church was a place of refuge for many following the attacks. The candlelight memorial is attended by more than 1,000 people and it is best to arrive early.

In Tullytown, the borough will host it annual remembrance ceremony at the fire station on Main Street starting at 7 p.m. Numerous local officials will speak and the Men of Harmony will perform.

The Edgely Fire Company on Edgely Road in Bristol Township also has a public September 11th memorial on the side of its station that is open to the public. The memorial offers a place for people to stop by and reflect.
