Atlas Van Lines slogan is “go new places,” and one of their large moving trucks did exactly that Thursday morning.
The truck slammed into the railroad bridge and became lodged along South Flowers Mill Road in Midldetown.

Police said no injuries were reported and the road reopened not too long after.

An officer said the height of the bridge is clearly marked on signs in the area.
Since police Chief Joseph Bartorilla took the job in September 2014, he can recall at least 50 similar incidents with trucks striking the bridge. He said citations are handed out about 50 percent of the time and officers use their discretion.

The chief said drivers who strike the bridge are often experienced truckers, but others are less experienced and not aware of the height of their vehicles because they are renting them for short periods of time.
