The crash happened at Bristol-Oxford Valley Road and Red Rose Way in Middletown’s Levittown section at 2:09 a.m., Sgt. Michael Lubold said.
It preliminarily appears an Audi was driving at a high rate of speed northbound on Bristol-Oxford Valley Road when it struck a red Dodge pickup truck that was turning out of Red Rose Way, police said.
The driver of the Audi, which caught fire, died of his injuries, while the driver of the pickup truck walked to an ambulance and was treated at a local hospital, police said.

The force of the wreck caused a 250-foot-long debris field that included headlights and other pieces of both vehicles. A toolbox from the pickup truck flew out of the bed and ended up striking a home on Red Ridge Road.
A group of young people comforted one another not far from the scene as police carried out their investigation.

A Pennsylvania State Police helicopter and a drone were to be used Saturday morning to document the crash for the investigation.
Langhorne Borough police Chief Steve Mawhinney and Officer Tim King of the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office Homicide by Vehicle Task Force were at the scene assisting Middletown police shortly after daybreak.
Police said they expected to keep Bristol-Oxford Valley Road closed until about 10 a.m.
