The Edgely Fire Company welcomed Bristol Township’s newest fire engine last week.

The 2017 Pierce Enforcer rolled up to the volunteer fire company at the end of Edgely Road with lights blazing and its siren roaring.
Fire Company Chief Joe Cavanaugh said the engine truck cost more than $500,000 and is custom designed to best serve the community.
The truck can hold up to 790 gallons of water and has ports for eight lines of hose that can be used to battle flames. In addition, the truck will be able to use of the items from the previous fire engine that was sold to the township fire marshal’s office last year.

Cavanaugh explained the truck has been in the works for several years and required Edgely members to travel out to the Pierce’s Appleton, Wisconsin, facility during the design and fabrication process.
Edgely Fire Company also has ladder, rescue and utility trucks. A marine unit and several chiefs vehicles are also part of the fleet.

The public will have a chance to see the new truck at Edgely Fire Company’s October fire prevention open house.
