A man approached the boy and started asking him questions before inquiring if he wanted to go for a walk. Eventually, the man offered to pay the boy $50 for some rocks he was holding. The boy ended up trading the man 12 rocks for $50 before the youngster left and walked home, police said.
Hughes said it was unclear where the man who approached the boy went following the incident.
A description of the suspect indicated he was a white or light-skinned black male who was possibly in his 30s. He had gray hair, was clean shaven and wore blue jeans. The man was reported to be driving a black or gray four-door vehicle.
