Township officials in Middletown have awarded a nearly $24,000 contract in benefit of the municipality’s Ivystream Basin Retrofit Project.
The basin improvements along Oxford Drive in the Langhorne section of the township, according to Building & Zoning Director Patrick Duffy, will be funded entirely as part of the Growing Greener grant from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). While Supervisor Amy Strouse noted that about $4,000 will be left in grant money, Township Manager Stephanie Teoli Kuhls said the money would have to be spent on the basin and not on a project elsewhere in the township.

Spencer’s Landscaping, a well-known company in the area, has been awarded the project which will include transforming the basin into one that is as maintenance free as possible, planting wetland and wildflower mix which will not need cutting throughout the year, and revising the outlet structure which will help the basin perform more efficiently and help with downstream bank erosion.
