Anonymous Motorcyclists Drop Supplies At Homeless Shelter

A group of community members numbering more than 30 people made a motorcycle run from the American Legion post on Woodburne Road in Middletown to the Bucks County Emergency Homeless Shelter in Bristol Township to deliver much needed supplies.

The group was made up of local residents riding on motorcycles and in cars, but one commonality is that they all wished to remain anonymous. They weren’t donating for the recognition or praise but to do a good thing for people in need.

“We found out there was a need,” said one of the organizers of the event.

Once they found out how dire the need was at the shelter, they put together an impromptu ride to help alleviate the need.

The riders in the group made a point not to exchange names with the shelter workers to maintain their anonymity.

Murielle Kelly, the manager of the shelter, said she still appreciated the gesture.

“This was a complete surprise and the volunteers were very touched,” Kelly explained.

Before the riders left, the workers at the time asked the group to get together for a photograph.

“Hopefully people will see it and realize that there is a need for this in the community,” said another organizer of the ride.

The shelter offers three meals a day to roughly 75 people there at any given time. They are always open to volunteers to help cook, clean and perform other services at the shelter and other programs that the organization provides. Potential volunteers can call the shelter at 215-949-1727 to see how they can get involved.

The event came together after one of the organizers made a Facebook event. It took off and more than 30 people attended.

“This really shows the good side of social media,” said one of the organizers.
