A Bristol Borough man has received a lengthy prison sentence for sexually assaulting two sisters.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said Ronald Smith, 57, was sentenced to serve 30 to 80 years in state prison last week by Judge Rea Boylan.

Smith was found guilty of multiple counts of child rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault earlier this year. However, Smith refused to admit his guilt.
“I’ll never plead guilty to this crime because I didn’t do it,” Smith told Boylan before she sentenced him. “Whatever you put on me, I’ll take it.”
Smith began the assaults when one of the girls was about 7 years old. He assaulted her over a seven year period. The attacks started with inappropriate touching and evolved into oral, anal and vaginal intercourse. To make sure the girl, now 16, kept quiet, he threatened to hurt her mother, according to prosecutors.

Smith attacked the younger sister, now 15, over a shorter period of time and forced her to perform oral sex on him when she was about 12.
“If I had been old enough to know better, instead of being a scared little girl when he started hurting me, I would have seen him for who he is and I would have spoken up and told someone,” the older girl said in a victim-impact statement she read in court.

“Despite what he did to me to ruin my childhood, he did not ruin the good, caring and kind person I am and that I will continue to be,” the girl added. “I will go on to lead a productive life because I am a good person and I am stronger than he ever thought I would be.”
The crime happened at a motel in Bensalem, two homes in Bristol and the Silver Lake Nature Center, according to court records.
The state sex offender evaluation board identified Smith as sexually violent predator, meaning that Smith must be registered with police as a sexual offender for the rest of his life.
