County and state officials are partnering up to offer free vouchers of fresh fruits and vegetables to eligible individuals and couples at participating farmers markets.
According to a recent press release, the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging will work in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture to begin offering the vouchers to lower income senior citizens (aged 60 or older). Eligible individuals will receive $20 in free vouchers, where as eligible couples will receive $40.

The program, which begins June 2, will distribute vouchers at designated senior centers (listed below) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on each Friday while supplies last. To be eligible, recipients must reside in Bucks County and be age 60 or older and not exceed annual income guidelines, which are as follows: 1 person: $22,311; 2 people: $30,004; 3 people: $37,777; 4 people: $45,510; 5 people; $53,243; 6 people: $60,976. The income guidelines are before any deductions including taxes, Social Security payments, insurance premiums, and charitable contributions. Seniors who reside in nursing home facilities, convents, or any residential facility which provides meals are not eligible to participate in the program.
Seniors who are unable to attend a senior center may designate a person by completing a proxy form. Proxy forms can be found here, or may be picked up at the Area Agency on Aging Office in Doylestown, at a Bucks County Government Services Center, or at any of the senior centers listed below.
