Five Pennsbury High School students were taken to the hospital for precautionary measures after a chemical incident Tuesday afternoon.
Around 2 p.m., two chemicals mixed and created a chlorine gas cloud in the pool area just after a class with 21 students had concluded. Five students complained of respiratory issues and were transported by ambulance as a precautionary measure, according to the school district and emergency officials.

Falls Township Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said an employee was performing normal maintenance to clean the pool filter when the incident happened. Firefighters were called at 2:01 p.m.
A statement from the school district said a nurse was called to the pool house to check on students. They added that all of the 21 students’ parents will be contacted.
Dippolito said it was not clear how the chemicals that created the chlorine gas cloud mixed together.
