A softball team from Bristol Township’s Croydon section has been invited to the Softball World Series in Florida.
Although many other world series competitions are made up of teams after regional tournaments, the Softball World Series is an invitational, and the Lower Bucks County Athletic Association has been invited.

“I am ecstatic and beside myself for just being recognized. It means that the program doesn’t just exist, and we are recognized by people on the outside, too,” said Cindy Taylor, who runs the softball league in Croydon and is managing the world series team.
The tournament is a U18 tournament, meaning teams consist of girls aged 14 through 18. The total costs for the team amount to $20,000.
“To watch these girls get ready for this tournament is overwhelming,” Taylor said. Not only are the girls working hard to prepare their game for the tournament, they are also fundraising the entire $20,000 sum. “Watching these 16 girls come together like a family to get this done really makes you feel like part of a family.”

So far, the organization has been working hard. They have held car washes, coin drops and set up a donation page. They also have a beef and beer coming up before the mid-July tournament. If they can’t raise the money, the team will be unable to go, Taylor explained. In that case, all of the money raised for the trip would go back into the operating fund for the athletic association.
To save money, the group, consisting of 16 girls and at least 10 adults, will be driving down to Jensen Beach, Florida for the tournament.
