A Neshaminy School District bus driver was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon for suspicion of DUI.
Middletown police and several district employees from various departments confirmed a driver was taken by an officer after it was suspected they were under the influence of an intoxicating substance at the high school.

Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla told LevittownNow.com that the high school called the assigned school resource officer after it was suspected the driver was operating a bus waiting in a bus line under the influence. The driver had trouble with a portable breath test and was taken to St. Mary Medical Center for a blood draw. He was reported to be cooperating with officers.
The driver was released as no charges were filed while police await the results of the blood tests, Bartorilla said.
The chief said a number of students were on the bus with the driver.

Chris Stanley, the district spokesman, said the matter was a personnel issue and he did not have much information to release. He added that he was not certain whether the driver worked for the district or was contracted through Student Transportation of America (STA).
Another driver, according to Stanley, was brought in to transport students.
Earlier this year, LevittownNow.com broke the story that Lower Southampton police had to be called after an STA driver walked off the job after being pulled over.

STA runs bus service in districts across the United State and Canada. The New Jersey-based company was hired by Neshaminy over the past few years to supplement district transportation staff and runs fewer than half of the district’s bus routes.
Correction: This story has been updated to add that students were on the bus with the driver. An earlier version reported no students were on the bus.
