From police:
Please take all precautions you can to safeguard your home. Lock all doors and windows when you leave your home and before you go to sleep at night. Set your alarm if you have one. If you have cameras and/or surveillance equipment, make sure it’s on and working properly. If you are going away on vacation, contact the police department either by phone (215-750-3845) or by filling out the online request form and we will perform daily checks of your property while you’re away. Look out for your neighbors who aren’t home, and report any suspicious activity, no matter how minor you think it is, to 911.
A notice from the department also advised residents to make sure their neighborhood watch is active. If one doesn’t exist, residents can contact Lt. Ken Mellus at 215-750-3845.
Police said they have increased patrols in the areas impacted by the uptick in burglaries.
