The Grundy Museum and Library pull all the stops Saturday to celebrate their 50th anniversary on Saturday with an authentic old fashion-styled picnic.
The event, which took place throughout the Grundy campus off Radcliffe Street along the Delaware River, attracted what seemed like a few hundred people in only the first hour of the event’s activities.

In order to honor the Grundy legacy, the directors behind the event wanted to spotlight a varying array of eras where the Grundys were active. Flapper dancers, jazz music, a jazz-era photo station and How-To demonstrations were just a few options visitors could enjoy.
The whole day was free with family friendly entertainment sprawled all over the Grundy campus.
The day was the result of about eight months of planning between Barber and Donna McCloskey, the administrator of the Grundy Museum.

The grounds had a festive air as families were spread out all over the lawn having picnics and relaxing. Library administrator Dana Barber said she wants people to know that they can use the space behind the library to have picnics or in similar ways anytime the gate is open.
“Anytime, you can come down here and use the Grundy land like this,” Barber explained.
