
A Langhorne woman was taken into custodyย after allegedly attempting to stop officers from arresting her brother.
On Thursday, Middletown officers were attempting to arrest 59-year-old Cheryl Simmons-Ellis’ brother for an alleged domestic-related assault along Hulmeville Avenue in the township, police said.

Court papers stated that officers located the brother on the roof of the house. When they tried to enter the residence to apprehend him, Simmons-Ellis stepped in and tried to stop the officers.
As officers moved her out of the way and began climbing the stairs, Simmons-Ellis ran past the police and once again tried to block the path at the top of the stairs, authorities said.
Simmons-Ellis was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, hindering apprehension of a suspect and harassment.ย Simmons-Ellis posted bail and was released.
