Residents of Bristol Borough came together on sunny Saturday morning to make a difference in their community by working to keep the riverfront town beautiful.
The cleanup, organized by Jose Acevedo and other members of Keep Bristol Beautiful, was the most recent in an ongoing effort to keep the town free of trash. The day acted as a way to get out of the house and get together with friends to show the town some love.

Celeste Dyzel, Rachel Kelley and Ginette Grafton came to the cleanup together, bringing their young kids along.
“It will hopefully prevent them from littering,” explained Kelley.
Although they wouldn’t think about it now, this work to keep the town clean puts the idea at the forefront of their mind, Kelley said.

“It really teaches kids to take pride in their community,” Grafton said.
“You know that if we don’t do it, nobody will,” Dyzel explained.
The group signed up to clean up the area behind Mill Street and the Mill Street parking lot.

“You would be amazed how much we cleaned in only three hours,” Dyzel said around lunchtime.
In addition to wanting to do more cleanups throughout the year, the group spoke about getting more advertising for the cleanups in the schools. If kids and parents know about the cleanup, more residents might come out, they said.
“I really think they should do this a few more times every year,” Grafton said.
