Maugeri Cupcake Company celebrated their grand opening on Saturday by nearly selling out of everything they prepped by noon.
As customers filed in and out of the store in Bailey’s Plaza on Bristol-Emilie Road, Gina and Beth Maugeri, the co-owners and mother-daughter combo, worked to continue baking to fill special orders and walk-in customers.

When they get some time to take a minute from work, Beth Maugeri found time to praise the community whose support has made opening a storefront both necessary and possible.
“They’ve been so welcoming towards us,” Maugeri said.
For some time, the duo has been working to fulfill special orders and enter into festivals. The increased demand meant that the two likely wouldn’t have been able to work through another holiday season without their own storefront.

Things at the Maugeri Cupcake Company are different from other stores, Maugeri insists, because everything at the bakery is made totally from scratch.
“People have been really great, I really can’t say enough about that,” Maugeri said.

The ultimate goal in terms of a storefront for the owners would be to have enough space for tables where people can sit down and enjoy their coffee and cakes, Maugeri said. As of now, the two offer coffee and cakes but no place on the property to enjoy them.
The two got pretty lucky in terms of building spaces.. The storefront was already equipped for a bakery and was the former location of Kari’s Cheesecakes and Bakery.
As of now, the cupcake company offers about 20 variations of cake and cupcake. They will change flavors seasonally, but people can always place special orders.
