This past weekend, six teams from the Pennsbury School District traveled more than 300 miles to compete in the Odyssey of the Mind Pennsylvania State Finals.
According to the competition’s website, Odyssey of the Mind teaches students how to think in different ways by providing open-ended problems that appeal to a wide range of interests. Students learn how to identify challenges and to think creatively to solve those problems and they are free to express their ideas and suggestions without fear of criticism.

The teams, which included students from Afton Elementary School, Manor Elementary School, Makefield Elementary School, Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School, Pennwood Middle School and Pennsbury High School, included 162 of the best teams from all over the state.
The top two teams from each problem and each division advanced to the World Finals, which will take place in May at Michigan State University. Eleanor Roosevelt made the cut by placing second and will be advancing. An honorable mention goes to Pennwood Middle School for placing third in the competition.
