A new ordinance authorities hope will help police crack down on illicit behavior was passed by the Falls Township Board of Supervisors Tuesday evening.
The ordinance requires the township’s eight hotels and motels to keep a detailed hotel registration book that could be turned over to police for review. The record would have to kept for a period of up to three years so they could be obtained by police under court order or subpoena, officials said.

Board Chairman Bob Harvie said last month that the new ordinance will help police not only fight criminal activity but can be used to find missing persons.
Harvie said many of the issues related to drugs are happening at hotels and motels in the township. The new ordinance will help police look or track down those who break the law.
The Falls ordinance is similar to one Bensalem put into place several years ago.
