For people who drive by the Big Bear Natural Foods building on Old Lincoln Highway in Falls Township the store is likely a reminder to try to fit more organics in their diet or try to get to the gym.

Now, with a stop in to the building, you can go to fitness classes on the second floor and stock up on healthy foods before you leave at the Big Bear on the first floor. Blue Door Fitness and Barre Studio hopes to bring small class specialty to local gym goers.

“Smaller classes let us check everyone’s form and make sure no one is going to get hurt,” said Maureen McKenna, one of the owners of Blue Door Fitness and Barre Studio.

Since their original opening on January 2, the gym has offered a number of small size classes including TRX, plyoga, boxing, kickboxing and surfset.

“We really have something for everyone,” McKenna added. “We’re really trying to make the location your one stop shop for all fitness.”

Adele Duffy is McKenna’s partner in running the gym. Teaching the more active and intensive classes, Duffy says that the importance of the gym lies in getting people, especially older women to work out.

“I think it’s important for us older women to work out and especially strength train,” Duffy explained. According to the fitness expert, staying strong and combating aging is an important role of exercise.

Blue Door Fitness, in it’s simplest form, is a welcoming place where people can get together to laugh and work out in a fun environment.

“That’s the whole key for Maureen and I,” Duffy concluded.
