Cops: Levittown Man Strangles, Bites Girlfriend During Fight

A Levittown man was arrested after allegedly strangling and biting his girlfriend during an argument.

Richard Vanhart, 33, was arrested on last Thursday when Bristol Township police were dispatched to a report of domestic dispute.

When police arrived, they spoke with the woman. She explained that during an argument Vanhart choked her and broke her skin by biting her hand, according to court papers.

The court documents state the victim had tried to leave Vanhart for six months but every time she tried, Vanhart physically got in her way and threatened her and her family.

The probable cause affidavit says that Vanhart first identified himself as Chris Ortiz, but police discovered his true identity after suspect identifying him, authorities said.

Vanhart was charged with several misdemeanors including simple assault, strangulation, false imprisonment and false identification to law enforcement. He also has a summary charge of harassment.

Vanhart’s bail was set at 10 percent of $25,000.
