A downed wire knocked out electricity service to several thousand customers in Levittown Monday afternoon.

The outage occurred at 12:38 p.m. and knocked 3,627 customers off-line for about 50 minutes, PECO spokesman Ben Armstrong said. He added that other customers likely suffered a momentary loss in power but SmartMeter software worked to bring those customers back on the system within a minute or two.

The outage happened throughout several sections in Bristol Township and Middletown and disrupted several traffic signals in the area.
