Falls Township police have arrested a local man that they say left two children unattended to unlawfully withdraw money from a bank account.

John Forsythe, 26, of Morrisville, was arrested and charged with both felony and misdemeanor theft offenses as well as two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

According to police, shortly after 8 p.m. on March 1, Falls Township police were dispatched to the 4300 block of Dover Drive in the Pennwood Crossing Trailer Park for the report of a credit card theft. Upon arrival a woman notified police that at some point that day, her debit card had gone missing from their vehicle and that only two people, including Forsythe, had access to it. The victim informed police that the other individual had permission to use the debit card but that Forysthe did not.

The woman told officers that there had been a $100 debit withdrawal from a PNC Bank ATM at the Wawa on Bristol Pike while she was at work and Forysthe was supposed to be watching her children, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Falls police were able to obtain surveillance footage from the ATM, which allegedly shows Forysthe going to the machine and leaving with money withdrawn from the account. Forsythe allegedly left the children unattended while he visited the store.

According to Officer Stephanie Metterle, not every aspect of the investigation has been shared with the courts, as the charges are being submitted for the sole purpose of establishing probable cause.

Forysthe was arraigned and remanded last week toย the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $50,000 bail, which was later reduced to 10 percent of $10,000.
