Harry S. Truman High School will host Bristol Township’s first Mini-THON in the beginning of April.

Truman joins other local schools like Pennsbury, Neshaminy and the Bucks County Technical High School who host the dance marathons to benefit pediatricย cancer research and support children diagnosed with cancer and their families.

The money raised by these THONs, and particularly the Truman Mini-THON go directly towards the Four Diamonds Fund, “whichย uses the donations to provideย care and supportย to children with cancer being treated at Penn Stateย Childrenโ€™s Hospital and to fund innovative cancer research,”ย organizers said.

The idea to host a mini-THON at Truman first arose during the last school year after Key Club members attended a National Key Club Conference.

Truman High School Counselor Rachel Zawisza said, โ€œthe students love the idea of bringingย THONย to the district and the club is hosting weekly meetings to generate fundraising ideas, plan the dayโ€™s activities and boost awareness and participation.โ€

The public community is encouraged to come out to the Mini-THON, on Thursday, April 6 between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The public event will include a DJ, games, events, food and beverages. The cause is still accepting donations for food, beverages or gift cards to help the cause.

Organizers also mentions other service projects the Key Club is involved with, including collecting toiletries, clothing and costumes for community members in need. In addition, they work on other efforts like blood drives to help the community.
