Young Veteran Battling Cancer Gets Help From Firefighters

A young veteran whoย is battling cancer got some help over the weekend from volunteer firefighters.

Members from Bensalem’s Union Fire Company and Bristol Township’s Croydon Fire Company helped Harry S. Truman High School graduateย Mike McGrogan Sunday move home with his family so he can receive treatments for stage 4ย Hodgkin lymphoma. Item by item, volunteer firefighters carefully unloaded a truck filled withย McGrogan’s belongingsย and placed them in the family’s Croydon home.

The 22 year old was discharged from the Marine Corps. in August before his diagnosis and moved back to home recently from North Carolina, his family said.

McGrogan, a father to a 3-year-old son and has a baby on the way, is looking at six to nine months to chemotherapy treatment as part of his fight against Hodgkin lymphoma.

The family said a beef and beer fundraiser is currently being planned to help cover McGrogan’s rising expenses.
