Middletown police warn that scammers are tricking residents by pretending to be newspaper employees.

Police said the scam goes a bit like this: Residents who placed ads in the Bucks County Courier Times received phone calls recently from a scammer claiming to be from the Tullytown-based newspaper. The scammer told the victims that the credit card to pay for the ad was declined and they needed to provide another credit card to settle the bill.

The victims who contacted the newspaper were told their were no problems with their credit cards used to pay for their ads and learned the call requesting a new payment was a scam.
