A portion of Route 1 will be closed overnight.

Officials at PennDOT announced Friday that Route 1 will be closed at the Oxford Valley Road interchange in Falls Township starting Sunday at 9 p.m. and will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday. The same overnight closure pattern will happen Sunday through Friday.

Drivers on Route 1 will exit at Oxford Valley Road and then re-enter the highway at the entrance ramps at the interchange, PennDOT said.

Crews began work to repair the Oxford Valley Road bridge in November. The bridge sustained damaged when an oversized truck carrying lifts struck the bridge in 2015. The crash damaged several of the steel beams under the bridge and led to one of the bridge’s lanes being closed off.

Under the current project, Loftus Construction Inc. of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, is replacing two steel beams and repairing three others. The Oxford Valley Road bridge project is expected to be finished in June.

The work is part of an $11.7 million project to replace six structurally deficient culverts in Bucks, Chester and Delaware counties and rehabilitate four structurally deficient bridges in the region.
