The Pennsylvania Office of Inspector General this week announced a Bristol woman pleaded guilty to welfare fraud.
Becky Hall, 44, pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining $1,582 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. She was sentenced, according to authorities, to two years probation and ordered to pay restitution and court costs. In addition, she will be disqualified from receiving SNAP benefits for 12 months.

Hall was one of 60 welfare fraud cases adjudicated throughout the state in October and November of last year, according to the Office of Inspector General. The cases involved 45 people, and Hall was the only one from the Levittown area.
“These numbers reflect the hard work of OIG Bureau of Fraud Prevention and Prosecution investigators acting to save taxpayer dollars and ensure that these benefits are available to those Pennsylvanians who truly need them,” Acting Inspector General Tyrone Powell said.
The office reported last year that between 2014 and 2015 they filed 833 criminal complaints that charged defendants with welfare fraud and identified $3.7 million in restitution.
