Bristol Township officials are holding the line on taxes.
The Council voted last week to keep the municipal tax millage rate at 23.98 despite rising costs. Property owners will pay $746 for the average assessed property.

The $55 million spending plan will make investments in a $2 million township beautification program, $1 million to continue working with the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority to get rid of blighted properties, $1 million toward open space initiatives, infrastructure programs and grants for fire companies, new police cars, a new bucket truck for public works and new computers.
The township also plans to spend money on recently-hired police officers, add a building inspector and a full-time parks and recreation director.
Township Manager Bill McCauley said the township’s budget for the new year only spends about $1 million more than 2012’s financial plan. He added that the township has worked to reduce costs.

Township is battling increasing employee costs, pension obligations and debt payments, but has saved money on a new insurance program and reducing fuel costs.
Assistant Township Manager Scott Swichar said the budget will not take money from the rainy day fund to cover expenses.
