Parking Enforcement Officer Armed With Quarters, Not Tickets Thursday

Those who didn’t feed their parking meter or ran past the time limit got a break this holiday season.

Parking Enforcement Officer JoAnn Driscoll was armed with a bag of quarters Thursday along Mill Street instead of her usual ticket book. She filled the meters where the dreaded “EXPIRED” message blinked so motorist had one less worry during this busy season.

“It’s the department’s way of spreading the holiday spirit while supporting the business community,” Chief of Police Steve Henry said.

Driscoll said those who park in the borough are usually understanding when she gives them a ticket.
