Taxes in the Bristol Township School District might go up next year but they won’t be raised by more than 3.3 percent.

The school board voted 7-0 to not raise taxes for the 2017-2018 budget year past the state’s Act 1 limit of 3.3 percent.

“Just because we approved this tonight doesn’t mean there will be an increase of as high as 3.3 percent,” School Board President Angela Nober stated. “We don’t want to go that high.”

Nober told the public that the district was working to be responsible with their money and not place a large tax increase on residents.

With their vote, the district will not be able to petition the state for exceptions to raise taxes above the Act 1 limit next year.
