Bristol Township is applying for a state grant to repair a deteriorating bridge.
The council voted to permit Township Manager Bill McCauley to submit a PennDOT grant application for $701,250. The money would be used to improve the aging Wistar Road bridge in Fairless Hills.

Township engineer Kurt Schroeder said the “entire concrete deck is in bad shape” and needs work. The grant would allow for pedestrian safety improvements along the bridge that crosses the Queen Anne Creek.
The township has performed minor repairs in recent years on the bridge but Schroeder said a larger overhaul is needed.
In addition, the township manager will submit an application for traffic signal improvements for Edgely and Mill Creek roads.
