It was another successful year at Pennsbury Manor in Falls Township, according to officials who gathered for the historical site’s annual meeting last week.
Officials noted that total visitation to the site during the 2015-2016 fiscal year, which includes school programs, fundraiser events and general walk-in tours, have brought in an estimated 30,000 people. Membership has also grown at the site, by double, thanks in part to the Holly Nights event and the historic site’s annual Naturalization Ceremony.

In regards to educational programming at the site, more than 9,400 students visited Pennsbury Manor, up five percent from the previous year. Special educational programming like Harvest Day, Sheep Shearing, William Penn Day, and PA Day have welcomed more than 2,800 over the last 12 months. According to a recent press release, Pennsbury Manor is preparing to expand its programming in the future by re-launching a distance learning program to bring the educational experience of the site to schools which can’t physically visit. The manor notes there is already a significant wait list for the program concept.
Fundraising opportunities like Dine Around The Manor, Brews and Bites, and the site’s signature event, Holly Nights, have also helped grow the site and its potential, by contributing nearly $52,000 over the course of the year, according to officials.
The site is run by a small group of staff and a volunteer force of more than 350. The several hundred volunteers helped log more than 14,000 hours last year.
