Saxton is no stranger to public service in Bristol. He has served as a fireman, served on the council for 14 years, acted as mayor between 2002 and 2009 and then went on to serve for four years on the Bristol Borough School Board.
During the meeting, council members affirmed their support for Saxton.
“Joe is by far, in my opinion, the best person for the job right now,” Councilman Greg Pezza said.

“I just want to thank council for having enough confidence to insert me back into the mayor’s position,” Saxton said immediately following being sworn in by District Judge Frank Peranteau.
During his first mayoral communication of his term, Saxton made a number of promises to the residents of the borough and council. These include a strong commitment to community policing, an atmosphere where all opinions hold weight, and to maintain the approach that everyone in the borough is working for the same ends.
