A waterway cleanup will be hosted this weekend at Silver Lake Nature Center.
The event will take place Saturday, October 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is sponsored in partnership with DOW and International Coastal Cleanup, according to a recent release.

The cleanup will focus in and around Silver Lake and Magnolia Lake, as well as all of the land and water in between. Volunteers will work to remove all of the trash that has accumulated in the area throughout the year.
The event will be held rain or shine and lunch will be provided; those that wish to volunteer are reminded to wear clothes they don’t mind getting wet or dirty and to bring layers to keep warm, as well as a refillable water bottle.
Those that own a kayak or canoe and/or have a Boat and Water Safety Awareness Certification are asked to contact the group ahead of time, as they will be asked to help collect litter and debris from the water instead of from shore.
