Parents and students seemed impressed as they toured the new Keystone Elementary School in Bristol Township’s Croydon section Tuesday evening.
The new state-of-the-art building mirrors Brookwood Elementary School on Haines Road in Levittown and Mill Creek Elementary School on Mill Creek Road in Levittown, but each building maintains its own unique community.

The slightly under 1,300 students who attend the new elementary school started classes in the building at the end of Keystone Avenue Tuesday morning. Superintendent Dr. Melanie Gehrens said there were no major problems reported at Keystone or the other three new buildings. However, parents did note some traffic troubles that will likely be smoothed out as the school year moves forward.
Students led their parents around the new school and showed off their classrooms, the media center, gymnasium and cafeteria. Many of the schools teachers were in their classrooms to meet parents.
“I love this school. It’s open and kids are really excited about it,” said parent Theda Jordan. “It’s going to be good for the community.”

Nine-year-old Liam Logue-Struble said he is excited to start classes and his favorite part of his new school is the elevators. “Have you seen the elevators yet?” he excitedly remarked.
Gehrens talked about post it notes with first impressions of the new buildings that students hung from the front wall of the building.

“I love it,” one student said as she ran down the hallway.
