Even old-timers said they could barely remember the last time Bristol Borough was as packed full of people as it was this Labor Day.

Starting around 3 p.m. Monday, a group of Budweiser Clydesdales with an old-time carriage filled with cases of beer and a dalmatian dog made its way down Farragut Avenue, Pond Street and Historic Mill Street before stopping for spectators in the Mill Street Parking Lot.
“This was just fantastic,” said Lorraine Fitzgerald of Burlington County, New Jersey. “The horses are massive and looked gorgeous coming down the main street.”
The event was brought to the town by Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar and Gretz Beer Company of Montgomery County. Gretz Marketing Director Joe Morris, a former Bristolian, rode on the carriage through the town and helped deliver ceremonial cases of Budweiser to the Bristol Moose Lodge, Pines Tavern, Apollo Pizza, Borough Pub, Phinny Magee’s, Mill Street Cantina and the King George II Inn.

No firm estimate on the amount of spectators – who came from Bristol and as far away as Allentown – was available at the end of the event. However, the streets were packed with what appeared to be tens of thousands of people.
“This is a day to remember, guys,” a father told his kids at the base of Mill Street while the horses came past. “We can tell mom when we get home.”
