A 23-year-old mother will head to trial for allegedly killing her 2-year-old daughter earlier this year.
Falls Township resident Kayla Moore had charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child held for trial following a short preliminary hearing Wednesday morning before District Judge Jan Vislosky.

In April, police and medics were called to the apartment complex in the 1400 block of Sweetbriar Drive around 1:15 p.m. on Monday, April 24 where Moore lived with her 2-year-old daughter, Athena Wolfe. The dispatch was for a a child in cardiac arrest. Medics provided care to Athena while rushing her to Aria Health’s Bucks County campus in Falls before she was transported via medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), officials said.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Athena was pronounced dead the day after she was found with injuries, according to officials.
Abuse specialists at CHOP determined that Athena was a “terribly battered and injured” child, court records state.

A medical examiner in Philadelphia performed an autopsy on the little girl and determined her cause of death was blunt force trauma and was a homicide.
Moore, who was originally from the Pittsburgh area and resided in Falls with her boyfriend, admitted to two detectives that she kicked Athena in the head and torso prior to an ambulance being called.

Moore’s motive was not released in court papers.
Moore has been imprisoned without bail since her arrested in April.
