When Loretta Macalintal was born in 1912, a one pound top round steak cost you 40 cents. Now, that same pound of steak will cost you $6 to $9.

Macalintal and her family this past weekend celebrated her 104th birthday at Legacy Gardens on Bath Road in Bristol Township.

Born in South Philadelphia, Macalintal has been all around the area, living in city and Cape May for awhile before finally settling into the Bristol Township facility where she lives today.

Macalintal is a huge Philadelphia Phillies fan and it shows. Her room is adorned with lots of Phillies memorabilia, including bobble heads, signs, hats and more. Her favorite player, Charlie Manuel, is known to Macalintal as “Chewing Gum Charlie.”

Macalintal has lived to see her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren mature. Four generations came together to celebrate the landmark birthday on Saturday.

According to Gerry West, Macalintal’s granddaughter,ย Legacy Gardens and Macalintal’s family came together to plan the day’s festivities, including a regular piano player, and sing a longs for some of Macalintal’s favorite tunes.
