The majority of the work on the new 1,300-student Keystone Elementary School in Bristol Township’s Croydon section will be completed in time for the start of classes, district officials told LevittownNow.com.
The Bristol Township School District is in the process of placing furniture, moving teachers’ supplies into the building and finishing some construction in advance of classes beginning. Some inspections of the building have begun and the district hopes to have a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy in had within the next two weeks, Operations Manager Bob Maloney said.

At the school board’s upcoming meet next Monday, roughly $72,500 in change orders for the Keystone building will be voted on. Maloney said the change orders are similar to ones needed for the Brookwood and Mil Creek elementary schools which opened in January.
While the school is coming to completion on the inside, the exterior of the building appears to need extensive landscaping work before competition.
The Keystone building has experienced numerous delays since it was announced several years back along with Brookwood and Mil Creek elementary schools.

District Business Manager John Steffy said the new school will cost a little over $40 million.
Elementary school-aged students who attended Lafayette, Maple Shade and Mary Devine elementary schools will begin classes in the new building this September.
The district will complete consolidation from nine elementary schools to three at the start of this school year. The two other new 1,300-student elementary schools -Brookwood and Mil Creek – are located in Levittown and replace six buildings in those neighborhoods.

Steffy said the district will also send out letters and post information on student bus routes within the next week.
