Counselors were available for Maple Point Middle School students and staff Friday morning after the death of a classmate.

In an email to the middle school community, Principal Andy Sokol said that student Patrick Gannon passed away Thursday morning from complications suffered from a fall.
Northampton police did not release the victim’s name but confirmed to LevittownNow.com that the juvenile, a resident of Langhorne, suffered fatal injuries in the fall. Several members of the Maple Point Middle School community confirmed Gannon was the victim.
Police said they were dispatched around 4 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a fall victim at the SEPTA railroad trestle located near the Village Shires Community, which is on the border with Middletown.

First responders found the teenager and had him airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Despite medical care, the victim succumbed to their injuries, police said.
The Newtown Rescue Squad and Northampton Volunteer Fire Company assisted police at the scene.
