A new book store is opening onย Bristol Borough’s Mill Street.
Susan Spencer and Tina Fricano are the owners of T.S. Cornerstone, a reference to T.S. Elliot as well as a play on both of their first names. Their new shop will host its grand openingย Saturday with Mill Street Cantina catering the event from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. The grand opening is a coordinated with Trainpop Attic’s Christmas in July special.

“We’re both avid readers, and it’s filling a need,” explained Spencer.
The store, which is located at 401 Mill Street, features a wide selection of goods, including books, but also a number of other things such as spiritual items and crystals.
“We wanted to incorporate a little something for everyone,” Spencer said., adding that it includes selling coffee from Bristol’s own Calm Water Coffee Roasters.

In addition to offering a wide array of products and services, Cornerstone will place an emphasis on graphic novels, Spencer said.

The store location has been set up to offer free WiFi, as well as an arrangement of other services and events. According to Spencer, the store is already planning acoustic nights and events for big book releases, like the upcoming new Harry Potter book.

“People are almost as anxious as we are for us to open,” Spencer said. She reported that people have beenย stopping by the store and offering positive feedback for what the storeย can become.
Spencer and Fricano are paralegals by trade. Now renting a house on Radcliffe Street, the duoย want to help to spread their love of Bristol.
“It’s just such a great place,” Spencer said of the town.

The store is only offering new books for now, but wants the community to know that they are able to custom order books for customers if it is not in stock.
“Everyone here is giving us great energy; it’s great,” Spencer said.
