
A William Levitt-built house in Middletown was severely damaged in a Thursday night blaze.
The fire was reported around 10:10 p.m. Arriving firefighters found flames shooting from the front of the home and quickly went to work with multiple hoses, according Penndel Fire Company Assistant Chief Gary Laird.

The flames were brought under control relatively quickly, but the house in the 30 block of Hardy Road in Levittown still suffered extensive damage to its first and second floors, Laird said.
A firefighter suffered minor burns and was taken for treatment by the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad, officials said.

The chief told LevittownNow.com the residents were home and got out of the burning structure uninjured.

Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said the cause of the blaze remained under investigation as of late Thursday night.
Due to the warm weather, medics from the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad carried buckets and handed out cold water to firefighters at the scene.

Crews from the Fairless Hills, Langhorne-Middletown, Newportville, Newport, Parkland and William Penn fire companies assisted Penndel firefighters.
