House Damaged By Evening Fire

Firefighters battled a blaze inside the walls of a home in Middletown Sunday evening.

Crews were dispatched to the 900 block of Langhorne-Yardley Road just after 6 p.m. for a fire. Officials from the Langhorne-Middletown and Penndel fire companies arrived to find a fire that spread from the exterior into the walls and crawlspace, Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry said.

Firefighters worked for about 30 minutes to put down the flames. Volunteer firefighters worked to open up the walls of the home to make sure all the flames were out, according to Farry.

One resident was taken to St. Mary Medical Center by the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad for observation, the chief said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Due to the fire, Langhorne-Yardley Road was closed until 7p.m.
